UK Look Ahead
January 14th 2018

After last week's benign weather the next 7 to 10 days will be anything but.

Monday sees a band of heavy rain and strong winds exit the UK from the south east. The rest of the week will be characterised by a strong north westerly wind feeding heavy showers west to east. The showers quickly turning to snow for the north western quadrant with accumulations down to low levels for northern Ireland, western Scotland and northern England. A wintry mix elsewhere.

The fly in the ointment comes mid week where an intense area of low pressure moves west to east bringing severe gales and less cold conditions on it's southern flank and heavy snow on it's northern flank. Currently, I favour the track to be through central areas.

Into the weekend and it's back to cold with wintry showers with winds finally easing.
