I thought I would start a new topic about dashcams and you can post your videos here too. Santa got me a Roadhawk DC-2 for Christmas which has GPS with Google maps, a G-Force sensor and speedometer. For uploading to YouTube, I tend to use RaceRender software so that it displays the relevant stats.
For the rear window, I bought a cheapo camera off Amazon, called E-Prance. This has no GPS etc but as the front camera has it, I didn't need it on the rear camera. Both cameras operate from the 12v socket (1 socket on the front and one in the back) and there is plenty of cable that can be tucked away.
They operate on a loop recording with the rear camera files 3 minutes long and the front camera files 1 minute long. The oldest files are overwritten when the card is full. If an impact is detected, it automatically saves a locked file.
The front camera has an event button which can be pressed if you see something interesting such as a dangerous driver. It creates 3 locked files, the main file covers 30 seconds before the button was pressed and 30 seconds after. The other 2 files cover 1 minute before and after the main file.
I highly recommend these to protect yourself from crash for cash idiots. These also provide proof in an accident and can help prosecute offenders by handing it to the police to use as evidence.
There are several of my videos below from oldest to newest. The newest was taken on Friday. Any questions, fire away!
For all your technology lovers out there, this is the place to geek out.
