Wind forecasts always wrong?

Post #1 by GarbageBags » Tue Jul 16, 2013 11:58 am

Im confused about A: Wind speed forecasts (BBC/MET) and B: Wind in general (Isobars and such like)

A: Over the past few weeks or so (during the nice spell) Ive been seeing the usual wind forecasts of ~3-8 mph. However, out on Loch Lomond the wind is often WAY more. sometime considerably blowy (estimated maybe 20-30mph) Why is this?

B: Looking at the isobars on these days, it looks to me like there shouldnt be any wind. So why is it blowing a 30mph wind?
