Sun Spots

Post #1 by GarbageBags » Tue Nov 13, 2012 10:29 pm

Could someone please tell me, is it possible to have a very cold winter with high sun spot numbers?
Im looking at the charts and winters 2009/10 and 2010/11 had very low sun spot numbers and winter 2011/12 had a huge surge in sunspot numbers.

I'm just a bit worried because at the moment we are closer in numbers of sun spots to 2011 than 2009 or 2010.

Is there always a relation? can we have a cold winter even with higher sun spot numbers? or is it just a theory?
